Assistant Director of Engineering (Full-Time)

Job Description:
Candidate will participate in the maintenance of all broadcast systems for our radio stations in addition to assisting the market Director of Engineering as necessary. This position is service oriented and interacts extensively with other departments and staff.

Job Requirements:
• Familiarity with radio broadcast operations including maintenance of broadcast automation and studio equipment, high power RF equipment and computer/IT skills.
• Requires a working understanding of basic electronics, logic and switching circuits, and electronic troubleshooting practices.

Part-Time Remote Broadcast Technician

Job Description:
We are looking for a part time Remote Broadcast Technician. This position will be responsible for planning, set-up, operation and return of broadcast equipment needed for live broadcast outside of the normal studio locations. Must be able to operate analog and digital equipment and perform basic troubleshooting to restore/maintain remote operations in a timely manner. Candidate will also participate in other technical areas of our operation assisting the engineering department and staff.

Job Requirements:
• Position requires a knowledge and understanding of talent requirements for shows away from the studio facilities.
• Some broadcast engineering experience is preferred.
• May be exposed to various weather conditions and MUST be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires the ability to set up equipment which may require standing, kneeling, climbing or crawling for extended periods of time.
• Position requires travel and candidate must possess a Valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.

On-Air Announcer
Essential Duties:
* On-air announcing of programs, music, commercials, news, public service information and other material
* Plays music as decided by the music director and follows the daily music log

Technical Director/Producer/Update Reporter
Must be able to multi task and remain calm while working under pressure. Responsibilities will be to produce and execute nationally syndicated broadcasts as well as local call in talk shows. For example, ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, Westwood One NFL and College Football, or KJR’s Baseball’s Best Postgame Show. This will include all technical and satellite set up before and after the broadcast; and be able to write and execute on-air sports updates.

Experience: Have a working knowledge of the basic operations of running a radio broadcast from the studio. There will be training for specific responsibilities, but experience with NexGen’s Prophet System as well as running a console is a plus. Previous on-air experience at least in doing reporting and news/sports updates. Must be able to write reports, operate basic digital editing tools, and monitor all news outlets

Employee will report to Program Director and can expect approximately 20-30 hours per month.

Part–Time Editor/Desk Journalist (Job #2051)

DUTIES:
The KOMO 1000 News Editor/Desk Journalist position is one of the most important jobs in the 24 hour newsroom. As the Editor, you’re responsible for programming news content, assigning stories, and managing the show that your shift is part of. As the Desk Journalist, you’re responsible for assisting the Editor by creating content, editing both TV and radio audio, and writing copious amounts of news copy. Both positions are designed for the individual who can work with constant deadlines, ensuring a quality newscast around the clock.

As an Editor/Desk Journalist for KOMO 1000 News, you’re intricately involved in creating the content for all newscasts during your shift. You’ll begin as a Desk Journalist, working alongside an Editor, learning how newscasts are put together. As your skills sharpen in the Desk Journalist position, you will be given opportunities to serve as Editor on weekend and evening shifts.

Writing is key in this position. You must be able to write a complete story in 3-4 sentences. In addition to writing, you’ll be editing the writing of others. As Desk Journalist, you are able to take direction well from your Editor, as well as be proactive in seeking out additional stories for broadcast. If you are interviewed for this position, you must pass a writing test before being further considered.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an interest in the news, and must be a regular listener of news radio. You have news writing and interviewing experience. You are responsible, proactive, a self-starter, have a positive attitude, and have stronger than average communication and writing skills. You also posses the ability to follow instructions thoroughly, and are able to work well alone and in group settings. You also have the ability to work under pressure via constant deadlines. A college degree is preferred, but not required if you posses exceptional radio writing skills. Physically, you’re able to sit for long periods of time, and you have excellent vision and hearing (with or without corrective equipment).

You must be available to work nights and weekends. This is a full-time position, and while you will be given a regular schedule, there will also be circumstances where schedule flexibility is required.

Assist Promotions/Marketing Director with coordinating and implementing station events, manage listener database, assist with contest and promotions. Interns accepted into the program must be enrolled in a college or university and must be of junior or senior status. Interns will need to commit to a 3-month internship program.

Operate the broadcast studio to integrate voice tracks, music, and commercials in compliance with the station program log and standard broadcast practice. While running the board, the operator will also perform other station work such as filing, pulling, and ripping discs. Other duties as assigned, including possible fill-in work for other shifts.

Qualifications:

Northsound 1380 (KRKO), ESPN Radio, Snohomish County’s leader in sports radio, is looking for a part-time on-air announcer/board operator. Responsibilities include running the studio board for sports events, delivering on-air traffic reports, audio production, assisting with live remote show setup, and various other duties.

Job Requirements
Candidates should have an interest in and knowledge of sports, as well as knowledge of the Snohomish County area. Must have a good on-air presence and be able to work well under pressure. Previous on-air experience is preferred. Must be able to operate computers in a Windows environment, and be able to learn new software. Experience using Adobe Audition (CoolEdit) and Audio Vault is a plus, but not required. Must be willing to work flexible schedule and be available to work evenings and weekends.
